PLOT:

Three years after the disappearance of 2% of the global human population, a group of people in a small New York community try to continue their lives while coping with the tragedy of the unexplained nature of the event.

season 1 - 

The police chief faces struggles in both his personal and professional life, as the third anniversary of the departure approaches. Kevin goes to see a therapist, after he has some unsettling encounters. Meg makes a decision about her future. Tom and Christine are left in a dicey situation. Jill and Aimee are interested as to where Nora is. Reverend Jamison is struggling with people referring to the departed as heroes. He is faced with death threats and a diminishing attendance at his sermons and then finds out he may lose his church due to foreclosure. A holiday display goes missing, sending Kevin scurrying to find out who is responsible. Tom and Christine run into trouble at a hospital and on the road. Laurie's resolve is put to the test in the wake of a brutal hate crime. After his latest initiatives to maintain the peace in Mapleton fall short, Kevin turns down an outside offer to rid the town of its problems. Nora goes to New York for the second annual Departure Related Occupations and Practices conference and discovers unsettling circumstances. After learning his father has escaped the psychiatric hospital, Kevin orders an APB to track him down. Jill attempts to break an endurance record. Holed up in Indiana, a disillusioned Tom makes an unsettling discovery. Kevin awakens in Cairo to learn that he may be losing his mind; Jill remains skeptical of Nora and goes through a personal conflict; The GR prepares for an important event; Meg has an altercation with Matt. Kevin tries to suppress his bad habits while tracking down a marauding deer in Mapleton. Laurie receives not-unexpected news amidst a rising sense of foreboding. Matt helps Kevin through his crisis and Patti continues to haunt Kevin; The GR executes their plan, causing chaos and grief throughout the city; Tom is left in a difficult situation with Wayne's baby. 

season 2 - 

A town that seems to have no disappearances becomes a new Lourdes and attracts lots of tourists. But all may not be as rosy as it appears to be. Kevin, Nora and Jill try to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the Mapleton riots. Nora makes an impulsive choice. Kevin becomes entangled in the Murphy family's problems. Laurie and Tom's work to rescue lost souls takes a toll on them. Laurie tries to spread the word about the dangers of the Guilty Remnant. Tom's infiltration of the cult uncovers new problems. Nora awakens in the midst of an earthquake to find Kevin missing. The Murphys are left reeling after Evie's disappearance. Matt takes his wife outside Miracle to seek answers about her condition but struggles to keep her safe from desperate tourists outside the town's gates. Nora is irritated by unexpected visitors. Kevin's predicament becomes impossible to ignore. Erika finds an unlikely ally and reveals haunting secrets. Nora gives Kevin and Jill news they weren't expecting. Laurie makes a rash decision that affects the Garveys. Kevin deals with the fall-out of Nora's news. In the wake of Kevin's desperate decision to vanquish Patti, questions and answers emerge as the world adjusts to the repercussions of what comes next. Meg suffers a personal loss and heads out on a pilgrimage to Miracle. After a fallout with Laurie, Tom seeks to reunite with Meg. The tensions between Kevin and John reach a climax, as the fourth anniversary of the Departure brings an unsettling threat to Miracle. 

season 3 - 

Three years have passed since the GR invaded Miracle. Kevin works as a cop again. Rumors rise that the seventh anniversary of the Sudden Departure will bring an apocalyptic catastrophe. Nora travels to St. Louis in her role as an investigator for the Department of Sudden Departure. With the clock ticking towards the anniversary of the Departure and emboldened by a vision that is either divine prophecy or utter insanity, Kevin Garvey, Sr. wanders the Australian Outback in an effort to save the world from apocalypse. Kevin and Nora travel to Australia, where she continues to track down the masterminds of an elaborate con, while he catches a glimpse of an unexpected face from the past, forcing him to confront the traumatic events of three years earlier. Convinced it is Kevin's destiny to be in Miracle for the coming seventh anniversary of the Departure, Matt Jamison impulsively heads to Australia in an effort to bring Kevin home. Laurie Garvey, a former therapist, must become one again as she heads to Australia to help Nora and Kevin along their paths. On a mission of mercy, Kevin assumes an alternate identity. Nora wishes to step into Dr. Eden and Dr. Bekker's machine. But, what are the consequences?
