PLOT:
A close-knit group of six friends get through their teens together while attending Bayside High School in Palisades, California.
season 1 -
Casey Kasem hosts a dance contest at The Max. Lisa charges an exorbitant amount on her father's credit card and fears that he will never forgive her. After Screech gets struck by lightning, he gains the ability to see into the future and Zack uses him to cheat on a mid-term exam. In an attempt to find out who Kelly wants to take to the dance, Zack and Screech bug the girls' sleepover party and the girls get revenge. In an attempt to cheer Screech up enough to complete their science project, Zack pretends to know a girl who is interested in Screech, but things soon become complicated. When his father is offered a transfer to Hawaii, Slater must decide whether to move there or stay at Bayside and Zack takes full advantage of the situation. After the school's drama teacher falls ill, a handsome substitute arrives and quickly captivates the girls, much to the chagrin of the boys. When Screech accidentally invents a seemingly miraculous zit cream, Zack sells it at school. However, it soon becomes clear that the cream has an alarming side effect. During Career Week at school, Slater worries that continuing to focus on wrestling will not lead to a successful job. As a result, he quits the sport, worrying Zack, who has bet on Slater winning his next match. After discovering she is failing in science, Kelly is tutored by Screech and soon develops a crush on him. As part of an assignment for economics class, the gang forms a friendship bracelet company, but infighting soon leads to trouble and defection. As part of a class project, Zack and Kelly, Slater and Jessie, and Screech and Lisa are paired up in mock marriages. When Zack finds out that the elected student council president gets to leave school for a trip to Washington D.C. he runs against Jessie. Zack uses subliminal messages on a music tape in order to get Kelly to ask him out to a dance. The first day of school proves eventful for Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly, Jessie and Lisa. When Bayside's rival school, Valley, revives the schools' ongoing prank war, the gang tries to get even.
season 2 -
Zack asks Kelly to be his date for the prom and she agrees, but when her father loses his job, she decides family is more important and gives up her chance to go, but cannot bring herself to tell Zack. In order to avoid detention, Zack agrees to take part in a pilot program organized by the California Cadet Corps, but Army life proves to be much more difficult than he imagined. The gang unearths Bayside's old school radio station and begins broadcasting again, before learning that The Max is to be closed if Max does not manage to pay $10,000 in back rent. After becoming jealous of Slater's success in Driver's Ed class, Zack plots to get him into trouble, but his plan soon backfires. Zack stays over at Screech's place for the weekend where the two of them along with Slater throw a party which is interrupted by the girls before breaking off a valuable item from Mrs. Powers. Zack agrees to go on a date with Mr. Belding's niece Penny, but when Kelly invites him to her birthday party, he sends Screech instead. When Mr. Belding tells Zack that he would like to see his father to discuss his bad grades, Zack hires an actor to play his father. However, things soon become complicated. Bayside's winner of the Miss Bayside beauty pageant will go on to compete in the state-wide pageant of Miss High School California. The pageant stirs up controversy about sexism, in which both Slater and Screech enter as contestants to win a bet over who could win. Who will be the next Miss Bayside? Jessie turns to caffeine pills to keep up with her studies and her singing group, Hot Sundae. After a heated debate about the school calendars, a photographer decides to use Jessie, Lisa and Kelly in a photo shoot where Kelly is chosen as the winner of a contest that'll make her famous in France. In an attempt to make money, Zack sets up a 900 number hotline, with Lisa offering advice to the students of Bayside. However, things go away when Zack decides to keep the line running by dishing out bad advice. After Zack breaks the school's video camera, he and the gang pretend Screech is an alien in order to win a photo competition. However, their picture soon arouses government suspicion. If Zack wants to run the track meet, he better prepare his ancestry report where he gets help from a Native American. Following a mix-up, Kelly has to bring her baby brother Billy to school, and the gang must look after him. Mr. Belding's brother Rod, a substitute teacher, arrives at Bayside to teach the gang's history class. Rod proves instantly popular, and soon Mr. Belding is dismayed to find that the kids prefer his brother to him. Zack and Kelly's relationship is going from strength to strength when it's jeopardized by Zack falling for the new school nurse. Slater and Jessie are finally a couple but disagreements threaten to dissolve their relationship. After finding out that Bayside's Glee club will travel to Hawaii if they reach the finals of a nationwide competition, Zack signs up, and convinces the rest of the gang to join him.
